It’s all about upcycling at the moment, apparently. I didn’t realise this is what we’d done, but a while ago my mother-in-law bought a new house, and offered us an old chair that was left by the previous owners.
With some clever reupholstery in the most amazing and vibrant Designer’s Guild fabric, this very brown (and slightly smelly) chair became the centre piece of our living room. Apparently, it was made by a firm called Cintique, who set up business in 1908 and are still trading today. My upholsterer told me that in his opinion, Cintique chairs were better than G-Plan, so we were exceptionally lucky to have come across this one.
The kids love bouncing on it, the cats love sleeping on it and I love reading a magazine whilst sitting in it. That’s what I call a real family piece.
