It was party time last weekend at casa decotales, with a little do held to celebrate our wedding anniversary, as well as commiserate the end of the summer holidays.
Of course, I couldn’t resist indulging in a little design frippery; so we had a tea party theme, with black and white design elements (apart from the blue and white striped awning my husband put up over our deck, as I just couldn’t find black and white striped tarpaulins anywhere. Just as well it was there though, as it meant the rain showers didn’t affect the festivities for a moment).
The tables groaned with Victoria Sponges, tea cake, cucumber sandwiches, home-made lemonade – the whole works. All I can say, however, is that it certainly wasn’t tea that was being drunk by most guests….
With bunting made from doilies, a teepee for the kids, and sparkling white festoon lights strung between the trees, as night fell our humble suburban garden turned into a truly magical place.
Of course, there’s always the aftermath to deal with the next day….
Definitely worth it though – an afternoon (and evening, and night!) that we’ll remember fondly for a long time to come.
