I’m almost beyond myself with excitement – this weekend myself and seven girl friends are all escaping for the weekend, staying at a beautiful cottage in Suffolk which belongs to one of our group.
A truly gorgeous old post office, it’s packed with character, history, beautiful furniture and amazing design touches created almost entirely by the amazing owner, Mrs P. Previous readers will recognise her name – she appears quite often on my blog, due to the fact that she’s one of my crafting heroines. She knits, she paints, she crochets, she decoupages – the list could go on, but suffice it to say that she is quite simply an amazing designer, artist and crafter.
So I thought I’d share with you some images of her beautiful home – which will also serve to whet my appetite for the weekend to come!
The idyllic, picture-postcard exterior gives way to a flagstone hall filled with practical storage – given a bit of edge with the addition of some unexpected and yet just-right chilli lights.
Vibrant prints and an old card-index style cabinet create an eclectic, welcoming feel in the hallway.
Warm wood, soft fabrics and an interesting mix of patterns – checks, florals and polka-dots – all work in tonal harmony to create the perfect country cottage dining area.
Quite simply the most perfect, relaxing reading area ever created!
A classic wood burning stove warms the room, whilst the relaxed seating area made from hessian sacks somehow sits perfectly naturally next to a more formal armchair.
It’s the quirky collections of eccentric and yet personal objects that make this home so captivating.
Kirsty’s Handmade Home eat your heart out!
The cottage is packed with interesting things – everywhere you look there’s a feast for the eyes.

I could carry on – but you’ll soon be able to discover The Old Post Office for yourself, as it’s shortly to become available for holiday lets. I’ll update with another post as soon as that happens.
But for now, you’ll have to take my word for it. Mrs P’s cottage is one of the most beautiful, interesting, welcoming and restful places I’ve ever been.
Just. Can’t. Wait!
